Speaking about and to computers.

Hands-free is a term that often are mentioned in various situations. The best way I have experienced it is by, using a speech-recognition program along with my hands.

It is a bit like having a third hand since the speech-recognition program does not need to have focus to receive my inputs, and the speech-recognition program can insert text into what ever program I need to insert text into.

It is most handy when I am programming since I can construct advanced commands, like having several lines of code inserted just by a voice command.

My native language is not English, and do not spell English very good, so the speech-recognition-dictation have improved my written English. (As you can see)

So from first being a gimmick it have turned into a very handy tool for me, and I can recommend speech-recognition if you need a third hand when working with computers.

Of course it is very handy to be able to start what ever program through a voice command, but also navigating inside the programs, using menus etc. is very handy to do with your voice, and your hands are doing something else than messing around with the mouse.

As an example I can tell that I have written, and posted, this blog entry without touching neither mouse or keyboard at all!

Haven't everyone tried to use half an hour on constructing the most brilliant post in a forum? - just to lose it when trying to save!

So I am trying to get used to the "syntax" of writing drafts instead of writing directly in the text edit box.

That's what happened today!

I keep you posted if some more interesting things happens.
